Before the smart check runs, Sift normalizes text to blunt leetspeak, stretched repeats, and spaced-out letters. It can also join recent messages when a line looks like a continuation of a banned phrase split across posts.
Split messages
When someone spreads a blocked word across two or three short messages, the chain logic can score the combined text and act on the burst. Innocent fast replies in a normal conversation are less likely to chain.
Names and threads
Nicknames, display names, and thread titles go through blocklist and slur checks too — not only channel messages.
